About Paula

Welcome to Acupuncture for Southern Living. My name is Paula Lord. I am the local Acupuncturist and Herbal Medicinal Practitioner. I have a Masters Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine, 4 years and 4,000 hours. My training is quite extensive. I also have certificates and training in Auricular Treatment. That involves ear points that connect to the bodies cns. My “Acupuncturists Without Borders” training uses ear points to calm people in traumatic situations – earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. They are great for traumatic events in our daily lives. Some of my other credentials include therapeutic events in our daily lives. Some of my other credentials include Therapeutic Cupping, Moxibustion for circulation, and the use of Crystals in healing.

I got into acupuncture from severe neck and back pain. I am from Los Anfeles, and about every 5 years, I got “whip-lashed”, and my pain progressed. After trying western modalities, my relief came from acupuncture.

My Eastern Medicine schooling was at Emperors College in Santa Monica, California. I raised my 2 daughters while I was in my Masters program, with the help of my husband Keith Lord. He was from Auburn, so that’s why we moved here to the South. He died of colon cancer in 2013. He was diagnosed with one month to live in 2009, and he lived another 4 years as I treated the symptoms of his cancer. My daughters and I decided to stay here in Auburn, as this is our home.
